Opera at Iford:  An Invitation

By a clear flowing river in a wooded valley near Bath, in the South West of England, you can find a cloister in an Edwardian Italianate garden that is Iford. In this covert, exquisite space is performed, each summer, that uniquely intimate entertainment - opera in the round - to an audience of 90.

More than just Opera
As well as 6 weeks of opera, Iford hosts free-flowing promenade-style jazz and world music and chamber concerts.

The garden opens for picnics at 6pm with opera events beginning at 7.45pm. Parking is free and performance unaffected by weather. Picnics may also be taken in the tearoom. Wine bar and complimentary interval coffee is provided at opera events.

Iford Arts, a registered charity, promotes Opera at Iford in the Peto Garden of Iford Manor, by the best of the young generation of professional performers. In 2007 we presented our own production of The Rake’s Progress and two operas performed by independent companies each excelling in a particular genre. These were new productions commissioned and designed for performance in the round in the Cloister at Iford.
2007 saw a continuation of the popular musical promenades in Iford’s free-flowing informal format, concerts in the cloister and free Sunday afternoon musical events.  We are currently planning the 2008 season, please come back soon for more details.
