Dvoràk - Rusalka

3 Acts: approximate running time 3 hours

English translation by Jeff Clarke
Chamber orchestra version for 12 players by Iain Farrington:

Flute (doubling piccolo)
Oboe (doubling cor anglais)
Clarinet
Bassoon
Horn
Violin 1
Violin 2
Viola
Cello
Double Bass
Harp
Timpani (2) and triangle

”The idea of Dvorak purely as a symphonist disregards the often extreme delicacy of his writing. Here, Iain Farrington's arrangement was faithful to the spirit of Dvorak's instrumentation, with flute, timpani, harp and horn bringing an impressionistic shimmer."

The Guardian, 30th July 2005

The rarely performed operatic masterpiece Rusalka contains many of Dvorak's greatest melodies. The 'Song to the Moon' is but one example of the stunning beauty of this score. Here presented in a new version for chamber orchestra, Rusalka can at last be performed in virtually any setting, with greater clarity and lightness of touch than the original. With a clear and witty English translation by Jeff Clarke, Rusalka will prove a hit with audiences
and critics, as the performances at Iford Opera have proved.

Full score, conductor score, vocal scores and complete parts are presented in clear computer-set score and are available to hire from Iford Arts.

Performance rights are negotiable.
